INTRODUCTION
The International Education Centre (INTEC), UiTM Section 17 Campus, formerly known as the Centre for Preparatory Studies or Pusat Pendidikan Persediaan (PPP), is the centre that handles university preparatory studies for overseas bound students. Currently, INTEC manages sponsored students from the Public Service Department (PSD), MARA, Bank Negara, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Defense, FELDA, PETRONAS, Yayasan Negeri Pahang, Yayasan Negeri Terengganu and Yayasan Tenaga Nasional Berhad (YTNB). It also accepts qualified Bumiputera students as private candidates. Today, this centre is one of the pioneers of international education in Malaysia.
HISTORY
The history of the centre goes back to 1983 when UiTM (then ITM) was given the task of preparing overseas bound students with the necessary academic skills and knowledge before continuing their studies abroad. To date, thousands of students who began their studies at this campus have successfully completed their studies at prestigious universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Korea, Jordan and the Egypt.
